What changes have been brought about by the release of the new national standard for transformers?
Recently, the National Standard Information Public Service Platform issued an important announcement, announcing the official release of the highly anticipated national standard "Energy Efficiency Limits and Energy Efficiency Grades for Power Transformers" (GB 20052-2024), which will be officially implemented on February 1, 2025. This standard will comprehensively replace the old version of the standard (GB 20052-2020), and has milestone significance in improving the energy efficiency level of power transformers and promoting green and sustainable development of the power industry.
Compared with the 2020 version of the standard, the latest online transmission standard focuses on increasing the energy efficiency limits and levels for three-phase 6kV, 10kV, 35kV, and 66kV voltage level transformers used for photovoltaic, wind power, and energy storage on the new energy generation side. The 10kV dry-type transformers commonly used in civil buildings have relatively small changes, and only the short-circuit impedance column on the far right is adjusted. The short-circuit impedance of 630kVA-2500kVA is adjusted from 6% to 6% to 8%.
This new standard is under the jurisdiction of 469 (National Standardization Administration Committee) and entrusted to TC20 (National Energy Infrastructure and Management Standardization Technical Committee) for implementation. In addition, the main drafting units for this standard include the China Institute of Standardization, TBEA Co., Ltd., TBEA Shenyang Transformer Group Co., Ltd., and more, with over 60 units, nearly three times the number of drafting units for the old version of the standard.
The energy efficiency level of power transformers directly affects the energy consumption of the power system. By setting energy efficiency limits and levels, transformer manufacturers can be guided to produce more efficient products, reduce energy consumption during operation, and achieve energy conservation and emission reduction.
China has reached the international advanced level in terms of energy efficiency limits and levels for power transformers.
The update of national standards this time is a change that adapts to the needs of the times and has a guiding role in the development of power transformer enterprises. It will guide transformer manufacturing enterprises to increase research and development investment and improve product energy efficiency. This will promote the continuous improvement of the technical level of the entire industry, and promote the development of the power industry towards a more efficient and environmentally friendly direction. The launch of the new national standard is expected to greatly increase the demand for domestic stock replacement and renewal.
At present, the full text of the latest standard "Energy Efficiency Limit Values and Energy Efficiency Grades for Power Transformers" has not been officially released and will be made public within 20 working days after its release.
